Visit (highly recommended) Waitakere (Eco City) west coast of Auckland, drive to witness the stunning beauty of Auckland just 24 kilometres out of its hectic city centre lies a 18,000 hectare sanctuary of native rainforest, beaches, streams and a stunning wild coastline.
The Waitakere Ranges were formed via a series of volcanic eruptions over the past 22 million years. Over time, huge amounts of volcanic sand mixed with magnetic iron oxide ash to form the distinctive black sand beaches.
Its a Magnet for artists and craft people who enjoy the peaceful and uncrowded nature.
Drive through village-style Titirangi, in the hills to Karekare - the famous black sand beach is the place where the movie "The Piano" was filmed in 1993.and since then many other Hollywood / Bollywood movies been filmed.
Enjoy a waterfall and wonder what if it was in your private backyard.
Drive back to Auckland and dropped off at any preferred place in Auckland city centre.
